Carbon Dioxide – CO2

Carbon dioxide CO2 is an acidic, colorless gas with good water solubility. In normal ambient concentrations it is odorless and tasteless. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas, being most relevant for global warming. Natural ambient concentration has risen from 280 ppm in the pre-industrial phase to now over 410 ppm. Most of today’s CO2 emissions are anthropogenic, the majority of CO2 emissions is caused from burning of fossil fuels. Carbon Dioxide’s good water solubility also causes acidification of the oceans.

CO2, in gaseous state or liquefied, is used in various technical applications in the food-, oil- and chemical industry.

In higher concentrations CO2 has a negative influence on the cognitive abilities, causes headache and other negative health effects. Therefore, CO2 concentration is also used as an important indicator for the assessment of indoor air quality.

GASERA offers different types of analyzers for CO2 measurements in several applications (ambient, agriculture, soil, ventilation, Indoor Air Quality).
